Hotell Frøya is situated in a central part of Sistranda, which is the municipality of Frøya. Hotell Frøya is a family business and has no association to any chain of hotels whatsoever. We try to encourage an environment with a touch of home, with a polite service. Your well-being is of course what we cherish and uphold as most important for us.

The community Frøya has a modern hotel with an excellent well-run kitchen and an atmosphere with a touch of home. We are situated in the middle of the municipality and are servicing a broad array of customers both from the commercial and private sector.
The wild nature of Frøya lies accessable right outside our very front porch. We have a saying at Hotell Frøya that we encourage bad weather - when nature shows her anger you can really experience what it means to live with and of the sea. At Frøya the weather will impress no matter if which face nature shows during your stay. If you catch Frøya when the sea and weather is calm and placid, she is a pearl to which nothing can compare.

In the multitude of inhabited and uninhabited islands and islets one feel as a traveller of time – of old and new. Frøya has several old settlements where fishemen used to converge during seasonal fishing where you can walk about in a very special atmosphere.
The islanders have during the test of time learned to make a stand together versus the sometimes harsh environment. At Titran you can experience mother nature as harsh as she can be – which the monument at Titran Kapell gives witness to. In 1899, 140 fishermen were lost at sea during a horrible storm.
At Titran one can also find a very large foritfication build by prisoners of war during World War II. Foundations of cannon-turrets and underground passages are very much a reminder of the horrors of war.
The fantastic slopes of naked rock are solid grounds last border to the Atlantic. At a windy day one can stand and feel the full force of the sea as it comes crushing onto the land a few feet away.
Exploring Frøya:
On Frøya there is a multitude of options to experience the island, islets and skerries around the island. You can for example travel with Hammervold Shipping’s modern boats, which are made for safety and comfort even facing rough seas. With an experienced captain at the helm you can safely let yourself be fascinated by the crystal clear sea, try your luck with a fishing-pole, dive down and see the wonderful underwater fauna or experience the skerries and islets in a more exciting way waterskiing?
For those that prefer a little more calm way of travel, there are options for a more calmer and more placid way of exploring the islets and skerries. You can hop from island to island while you soak in the atmosphere of rural coastal life. Sea-Safari with the white-tailed eagle, seals and if lucky orca as the main attractions?
Looking for a little more excitement, the Atlantic Explorer is available for Ocean Rafting on the open sea.
Hiking on Frøya is pleasant and calm. Bare rocks and an environment harsly marked by the weather easily gives the impression of being up on the high mountains. Water lillies gives an excotic aura and over 100 bodies of fresh water lures with the call of the trout. At the same time, foxgloves, white-tailed eagles and deer makes coast and inland mix – a peculiar experience of nature for all visitors. By assistance of the bus company ‘Trønderbilene’ one can by road around the island.
Sofabaren - Hotell Frøyas Pianobar
Our Pianobar the ‘Sofabaren’ has live piano entertainers every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. It’s a cosy place to relax, or if you want to give it a go – keep the entertainer company at the piano or dance the night away at the dance floor.
The pianobar also serves outdoors in a restricted area to accommodate those of us that smoke. This area is heated with electrical lamps – an excellent place to sit down and relax, have a smoke, or to just chat with your friends.
